Modeling and Simulation of a Two-Stage Air Cooled Adsorption Chiller with Heat Recovery Part I: Physical and Mathematical Performance Model

In the proposed work, MATLAB program was used to model and simulate performance of investigated two-stage adsorption chiller with without heat recovery using an activated carbon/methanol pair. The simulated results were then validated by experimental conducted Millennium Industries. based on 10th order differential equations; six them predict bed, evaporator condenser temperatures while other four equations calculate isotherm kinetics. detailed validation is stated in next paragraphs; for example, it clearly notes that simulation air cooled are well compared data terms cooling capacity (6.7 kW 6.14 from at same conditions). Coefficient Performance (COP) predicted this 0.4, which very close given Carnot cycle working operating conditions. optimized switching time, adsorption/desorption time maximize both COP. (300 400 s), (50 s) (30 s). temporal history provided operation modes. importance study will be as a basis future series production.
